sun sets on our favorite cafe

Not long after we started driving through Palo Pinto, a little cafe across the street from the courthouse square became one of our favorites. They made a great burger and their home-made chocolate pie was about the best I have ever had. Tricia claimed the buttermilk pie was just as good.

The food was great but the ambiance could not be beat. Not only was there a screen door but it was torn in just the way that I always remembered screen doors being torn back when I was a kid. We got to be kind of semi-regulars there.

Once we were eating in the front room and my jaw dropped as a procession of a dozen of the prettiest women I have ever seen walked out from the back. They were doing a photo shoot there for a clothes catalog. And the bikers certainly knew about it too. There was always a crew there on the weekends. It’s a natural stop right at the end of twisty Highway 4, a favorite route for bike riders.

This weekend there were no models and no bikes in the parking lot. Only a realtor’s sign. The world is a little bit…
