Sometimes I forget that we live on a lake.
Then there are weekends like this one. The Fourth is always a big day at the lake but this one was special. I can’t say why – maybe just because it fell on a Friday and the weather was perfect – but I have never seen it packed like this. I was out on Friday afternoon and the road was thick with boat trailers headed our way. Gasoline prices didn’t seem to be a deterrent.
No visitors ourselves but we must have been the only ones. We went over to a neighbor’s place and sat on the waterfront and listened to the screams of kids on waterskies and inner tubes, and toward dark enjoyed all the fireworks our neighbors were setting off. Saturday there was a parade followed by fried catfish at the fire hall. The classic American holiday.
Sorry I don’t have pictures – I can’t seem to master fireworks photos. Besides I left the camera inside.
Hope you had a good Fourth yourself.
