We were blessed with a visit from grand-daughter Beth the last couple weeks. She swam in the lake, went fishing, made friends with a baby deer and a horse, and I think maybe got a tiny bit accustomed to life in the country. I can remember being just a little bored sometimes when I was visiting the grandparents in the country, but later some of my best memories were from then. Maybe it will work that way again.
It was hard to distract her from the little electronic gadgets she brought with her. What IS the attraction with those things anyway? Considering the amount of time I spend on the internet I guess I have no room to criticize. Oops.
There were times this week I thought we were all going to be swimming. The lake was four feet over the spillway on Wednesday morning. When that happens our road becomes impassable on one end and we have only one way out. At the best that means a twenty mile detour to get to anyplace east of here. Our ground is saturated and even an inch or two now is enough to fill the creeks to overflowing.
