Do you know those moments in books and films when a clue is discovered and suddenly all is revealed?

Do things like that actually happen in real life?

Well something a little like that happened to me today. I was surfing through the internets when I came across something called “poly pop.” It was a powdered drink mix that was manufactured back in the 20’s and 30’s.

This startled me. My father, who passed away a few years ago, always said “poly pop” when he meant Kool-Aid. I don’t remember ever asking why or even wondering why, for that matter. I can’t say whether I ever knew anyone else who called it that.

And this clue was under my nose the whole time. The address of the company that made it was across the street from a school I use to attend. Those familiar with Fort Worth neighborhoods will understand where the name came from.

Anybody else ever heard of anything called “poly pop?”
