sunny border

Cowpen daisy is a really common wildflower around here this time of year.  The name itself betrays the kind of respect it usually gets.  It’s a bit like a small sunflower, with a rough stem that detracts from a cheerful flower.  But my neighbor built a nice sunny border around a stand of it.

Looks pretty nice doesn’t it.   That’s it all along the back and also at the near left. Here’s a closeup of the flower.

  1. That is pretty. And the border is really grand.

Wow Bill, that looks nice. If it looks that good in this heat it’s a winner for sure.
I’m constantly looking for more natives for my garden and this one is going on the list. Thanks, Bill.

I like it Bill, it has a good looking gray/green leaf that means it’s happy in the sun and the flower is fine for a wildflower!

  5. I’ve never heard of this one. It’s a nice looking plant & seems like it must take the heat well.
