smokestack
Thurber is a “ghost town” near us, which was an important industrial center of Texas a hundred years ago. It has an interesting history which you can read about here or visit the museum. For years highway travelers have known it for the tall “smokestack” that was part of the old brick kiln and for the restaurant that has operated for over 30 years.
A few days ago the brick facade began leaning out toward the parking lot and now it has caved in, forcing the restaurant to close as well as the arts and crafts gallery, which happens to be where Tricia sells some of her quilts. The part of the facade that is falling is actually a separate (unused) structure than the two buildings on either end and everyone is hoping the businesses can be back in operation soon.

Bummer!
I’m always sad to see buildings fall. Looks like water damage from here. Is there even a roof left on that section of the building?
no the roof was already gone on that section.
