A baby armadillo catches the attention of our housecat. She was curious but the thing moved too slow. Looks vaguely like a mouse though. The little ‘dillo seemed oblivious to both the cat and to me. I am not sure it could even see.

Excellent photo!!!
I’ve only seen one armadillo alive in my 35 years in Texas. I did manage to get a blurry photo of it but it did seem both aware and wary of me.
your photo looks pretty good to me

One of my favorite critters. And the cat’s nice, too.
oh yeah, the cats a real princess. armadillos eat ants and grubworms, but they tear up your garden to do it

Cloyingly cute photo, but I know I would have snapped a dozen shots too if I’d had the opportunity. We have ‘dillos at Roundrock.
i couldn’t resist.

Bill! I bought a big ol’ stuffed/taxidermied armadillo for my best friend. I got it when I lived in Corpus. She still has it on her fireplace hearth. Named it Wanda Hickey. I would LOVE to see that baby ‘dilla up close…..thanks so much for sharing the photo.
it was pretty cute. and it looked like the ‘armor’ was like thick leather.

We spotted a roadkill armadillo just south of Topeka, Kansas, in August, 2006. Either someone set a pet loose or it somehow immigrated this far north. I think if I encountered one unexpectedly, I would jump out of my skin. They are a piece of work.
