This little guy is calmly observing us while the previous scene unfolds. Every day for the past week he has dutifully taken up his post on this metal and glass garden ornament. At least it’s high enough off the ground that the cat can’t see him.

Mr. Toad probably thinks you put that up just for him. He’s much more colorful than Illinois toads.

armadillos have very poor eyesight. cats have pretty good eyesight
