first album

Filed under: outside in the garden — 1/26/2008

I have been exchanging emails with Cowtown Pattie about the first music albums we ever bought on our own, or records, as I called them.

I am pretty certain that the first album I ever bought was Elvis’ Golden Records. Yes, I was a real Elvis fan in grade school. I remember swinging on the playground swing set while singing Hound Dog.  I still have the record and it’s in pretty good condition.  Monaural.

But actually I was collecting 45’s before that. I don’t know which one came first actually. It might have been Little Richard or maybe it was this one -

    Oh, yeah, short shorts!

Right up there with “Telestar” and “Deep Purple” - the song not the group…

I always write “album” and have to back up and replace it with “cd”. :) “Records” to me would be either 45s or LPs.
