finally, fall

There hasn’t been much gardening or blooming either going on around here lately.  Although we got an inch of rain last night which should help some.  It also brought the temps down so that it felt like fall.  I even thought I detected a hint of wood smoke in the air this morning.

I planted some ox-blood lilies that I received from Zanthan Gardens.  Since I had good success with my lycoris bulbs here I am hoping that the ox-bloods will work well too.  I picked a couple sites, both somewhat shady and leafy, one that gets a good bit of afternoon sun and the other with more morning sun.

We spent Saturday at the Crazy Water Festival in Mineral Wells, working a booth for a few hours  as volunteers.  Good for people watching.

I don’t appreciate the crafts at these fairs as much as I once did.   The ones I have been to in recent years seem to have more of a country flavor to the arts and crafts that is not very distinctive.   Just curious – does anybody else go to this kind of event?  And if you do, do you think the quality or style of the crafts have changed any over the years?

We have Arts and Crafts fairs in just about every town during the summer, with the BIG one Thanksgiving Week in the COnvention Center. Yes you are right they are changing. I LIKE the artsy crafty ones that are hand made, and unique, but they are almost all mass produced, and junkie now. except for the potters, and the leathermen.
