They call this antelope horn. It is a kind of milkweed. Butterflies sure seem to like it.
Anybody know what this might be? At first I thought it was a bluebonnet but it got much bigger and never had a bloom. Similar leaf though. Those are the antelope horns you see in the background.
Lots of coreopsis coming up in this field. In another week it could be covered in yellow flowers.

Those Antelope Horns are very cool, aren’t they, Bill! Last weekend I watched them out the car window for a couple of miles on US 290 west of Austin.

Nice butterflies! What are they? And how many times a year do they fly?
I was just wondering what the antelope horns were the other day. I was sitting at a stop sign near the highway off ramp and there were a LOT of them next to the road.
I had been meaning to look them up, and here you are with not only the name but with a great closeup photo. Thanks!
