This farmhouse is on the road into town. Maybe somebody there can tell me about the place.

That’s one of the things I like about the rural life. There are old-timers who can drive down any country road and tell you who runs cows in every field and who lives in every farmhouse. And often have a long story to tell about them.

Strange world we live in. As if suceeding inhabitants constitute their own conquering empires, each erasing what came before it so completely that we leave it to the archaeologists to give us a bad picture.

Archaeological theory on the site: Obviously a temple of some kind.

I agree with Joel. Most certainly an edifice to Hestia.

Nice composition in the photo. I know what you mean about the old timers and their knowledge of the land. Smith may have moved into the old place, but for many of the old timers, it will always be known as the Jones Place.

I stumbled across your journal in my search for information about some Celestials I saw growing on the side of the road. I wonder if you ever tried growing any and if so, what time of year they should be planted? I LOVE your journal by the way! So glad I found it!

Nancy: it’s unfortunate that one of the vestals fell asleep and let the fire burn off the roof.

    Bill: drop me an email.

Nancy, Sorry I am not much help. I’ve never grown celestials. I am sure some of readers have though. How about it? Some of you gardeners in Austin surely have.
