fair weather crossing

Our physical connection to the larger world is limited. When we get to the main road we can turn left or we can turn right.
This is what we encountered Saturday morning when we turned left. Under normal conditions this crossing is bone dry.
We decided to go the other way. That way was clear but there were indications that it too had been under water the evening before.

Good heavens, it looks like surf on the ocean. I’m glad you could get out the other way. I hope you keep plenty of rations in your house in case you find both ways blocked sometime.

Scary, but cool at the same time. Who would have thought there was this much water in Texas?

You sure are getting a lot of water!
We have a flood watch coming later tonight, but we have water in spring in Michigan. Not something we even blink at, a flood watch in early April.
My lovely yard is spongy full of moisture, it squelches as I walk across it. I know I’m not supposed to do this - compaction is bad! - but I need to be out there getting the weeds out and the fall browns trimmed away.

Wow. That is a bit scary! Taking that road at night in the dark could have been very dangerous. I appreciate your comment about noticing our connection to the larger world, since that is what my blog is all about.
