gardening shoes

img_7203.jpg

This is a selection of footgear that I can be seen wearing in my garden. I publish this picture in response to a challenge from Carol. I believe my shoes have more in common with hers than they do to this collection.

I have long admired gardening clogs in the shops, but have yet to take the plunge and purchase a pair. As you may guess I wear my shoes for quite a long time, so it is worthwhile to give due consideration before making an acquisition. The Sebagos on the lower right have seen double duty as painting shoes, which explains the white spots. They are actually not as old as the LLBean boat mocs, which I swear cannot be worn out.

Where I live it is often a good idea to wear boots. We have tall grass and poisonous snakes are not unknown. The ones on the upper right are traditional for the region but I’m more likely to be seen in hiking boots.

I’ve replaced my laces with Lock Laces. They are elastic and you can slip your shoes on and off without undoing them. Wunderbar.

Nice shoes! Love those boots! Thanks for the link to the lock laces…very cool! Guess that’s what athletes use, too, as I never see them lacing up, now that I think about it.

  4. Well this collection looks very Texan, Bill - with both boots and boat shoes. In my yard we only have those little brown snakes. The Divas of the Dirt seldom need boots - you’d be amazed at how much we can do in flipflops:)

Pablo: they are elastic as I’ve mentioned. You fasten them at the top with a little plastic gizmo. Once they are installed on your shoe you don’t ever mess with them again - just slip the shoe on and off. The laces fit snug but give enough they don’t require being unfastened.

Great collection of shoes. You should try the clogs sometime. They are great for “quick trips” outdoors. I have a pair at the back door and a pair at the front door for just that purpose. And they really are comfortable if you get a good pair.

Lock Laces? Well, that explains the neatly-tied shoelaces. I was wondering if you were so obsessively neat that you tied your shoelaces after taking off your shoes. I was already trying to figure out whether I had been making a mistake all these years leaving my shoelaces untied. What a relief.

Ha! I have thought about showing my “farm shoes” before but haven’t… probably because my tall wading boots actually look more like go-go boots. :)

You have a great shoe collection! They look like mine … I just resurrected them all from the storage room and scraped paint off one pair of rubber clogs.

Good blog, btw… I will add it to my garden links!
