The doors look better now that they are painted. They need another coat but that will wait until some other day.
At least I’m getting used to the way they look. I like the dark green. The brown paint was color-matched at the paint store to the color under the eaves. You really can’t see it in this picture. It is actually a tad lighter but even when the new and old paints are adjacent you can barely tell the difference.
The electrical has been added. Three completely new circuits. Actually four counting a 220 circuit. We requested that one when we were thinking of heating and cooling the room using a window unit. Then we changed our mind about the window unit. We needed some other work done on the A/C so we decided to have the ductwork done to put it on the same system as the rest of the house. That’s done now too.
Next up is the floor. This part we intend to do ourselves.
I have talked to three experts about how to do it and they basically all told me the same things. The last one was the carpenter who installed the doors. He assured me we could do it.
Eventually we want to take out the concrete driveway and develop a courtyard here featuring roses. We actually park our cars to the left of that tree so we never use this driveway.
We’ve also thought about extending the roofline out to make a covered walkway across the front between where we park our cars and the main door, which is over to the right. That might help in controlling the sunlight.

Dark green really works. And once you terrace the driveway and put in roses, wow — what a great place to work.
You know, I hope you don’t mind a brief expression of envy but you and your wife have such a lovely life together.
OK, well that’s enough of that
I think it looks clean and crisp, and the colors really work well together.
You should talk to M Sinclair Stevens about flooring. They recently installed bamboo flooring in their remodeled kitchen. Did you know she had more than one blog?
I like that green. One of my favorite colors. It’s looking very nice, and it’s going to fun watching the slow evolution of your property, as you adapt it to the way you want it to be!
