On Memorial Day a couple of the kids visited at the lake along with grandkids. The grandkids were hesitant at first because there might be snakes and also the water was not chlorinated. Soon enough though they were swimming and diving off the end of the dock.
We had a bit of drama in the afternoon. Most of the adults had retreated back to the shade around the picnic table. One of the young boys decided to try out the boat. It is just a little flat-bottom fiberglass dinghy that is impossible to sink. But he got out a bit too far and could paddle back. The wind was blowing pretty strong and the current was going the wrong way. Mike had to swim out and tow him back in.
We did not even know anything was wrong until the two girls came back up alone. They started playng a game and did not say anything until we finally asked where the rest of the gang was. I went down to the end of the dock but the current had carried them around a bend in the shoreline and I couldn’t see them. I was about to go organize a search and rescue team when we saw Mike swimming toward home with the boat line tied around his waist.

Bill, recently I’ve noticed a banner saying “An Inconvenient Truth” at the top of your site. What does it mean?
I hope Mike gets extra points for his rescue work.
What a relief everyone was OK!
They may not sink, but they sure do tip as I can attest to.
I’d say that was a little more excitement than everyone had planned on.
