peony

We are already into triple-digit temperatures here.  Monday afternoon we had rolling power outages all over town.  It is April.  At this rate I can’t imagine what the summer will bring.  At least they are predicting cooler weather and rain over the weekend.  So far the garden is not suffering.

    Love the flower?
    What is it?
Is it truly a lovely lavendar color?
    Good photo.

That photograph almost looks like a painting — how beautiful.

Triple digits so soon? Yikes. That doesn’t bode well at all for August.

  3. Bill:

Wisteria: it is a peony. In real life it seems slightly more colorful than the picture turned out.

WE had a small patch of peonies that were planted by our home’s previous owner, but they were in an awkward spot, and we tried moving them. They didn’t make the move. Planted some new ones out front, and they have lovely deep green foliage, but in two years, they haven’t bloomed. What am I doing wrong?

Pattie, If you bury them too deep they wont bloom, and they do take several years to do so!

I have not seen a peony that looks like that! what is it’s botanical name? I bet it would not grow up here.
