The drought has really hurt the wildflower displays this year. We drove down to San Antonio for the weekend. We took the Interstate going down and came back up US281. We usually avoid the Interstate but we were pressed for time and much of the journey was in the dark. Couldn’t see much for the traffic and construction even when there was light. Three different accidents on the highway in Austin. I have never been through Austin on the Interstate without some kind of delay.

Travel back was more leisurely. There were modest stands of bluebonnets on 281 south of Johnson City and then we did not see any more until we got up north and saw one fairly nice display north of Stephenville. We didn’t have the time to venture off the highway however.The only good reports I’ve heard are from Washington County.
