We are getting lots of rain this weekend. Spoiled our plans for a cookout on the deck, but if that’s what it takes to get the rain we will be glad to schedule lots more.
The drought has made everyone think this will be a poor year for wildflowers along the highways. I don’t know if the rains now are too late to have an effect or not.
Around the house I’ve already had to mow the lawn once and it will be needing it again as soon as it’s dry enough to mow.
Another big advantage of the rain is that it has kept the construction workers off the job. They started on a new one around the corner to replace a teardown and all week from 7 to 7 we have been seranaded with a percussion beat of hammers in time to Latino hip-hop.
Not the most considerate of construction companies. They also cut down a tree that I am sure was on the other side of the property line. They sawed it up and stacked it in the neighbor’s yard. She is out of town and I can just imagine the fireworks when she gets back and sees it.

Oh, I’d be livid!
You can’t compesate for the loss of a tree.
Makes me wonder if towns where you have to petition to cut down your own trees might have one thing in their favor. This certainly wouldn’t have happened there.
and your iris photo is gorgeous…!
Oh, man, if someone cut down one of my trees while I was away, I’d be livid! The construction I noise I could handle — the Latino hip-hop, not so much.
