all is right with the world again

I’ve spent hours trying to find the problem with my laptop, scanning for viruses, uninstalling and reinstalling programs. The problem was that every time I tried to download anything my browser crashed. I was ready to throw the laptop against a tree. Finally I found something on a Firefox forum - it seems that there is a download file that has to be deleted when it gets too large.

Whoever invented computers should be shot.

Update: Afterwards I felt so self-confident that I upgraded my WordPress installation. Piece of cake.

And that reminds me.  Something I have been wondering.  When I log in, WordPress always greets me with “Howdy.”   Is that just because I live in Texas or does it greet everyone that way?

That would be Babbage and he’s dead. Unless you want to have a trial like they did for Pope Formosus….bring lots of air freshener.

Log in to which part of WordPress? Your own installation? Mine doesn’t say anything–but I’m still using 1.5.x. And anyway, why would you log out of your own installation? I suppose if you weren’t on your own computer you would. The Support forums? I just see “Welcome” there.

The file is in “Documents and Settings.” Here is the link to the forum where I found this out:

It may be my own fault for this getting too large. I believe there is a “clean up downloads” option that I may not have exercised for awhile.

    Kathy:
The greeting I am talking about is on the admin side where I do my postings. I think it is at the upper right corner of every page.

When I create a new post I log in by clicking on that “login” button on the menubar just below the picture at the top of this page you are looking at. It logs me out when I close the window.

Let’s dig him up and burn him at the stake.

Okay, I made the fix, but my webmaster tells me this would not have been a problem for me anyway since I use a MAC. Nonetheless, the fix is in.

I’ve never noticed a greeting. I suppose mine would say “How’s it goin’, eh?” ;)

Found a link to you over at Joel Sax’s place. He and I have been poking at each other for a while now. I’m over in Nashville, you’re in Texas. Same thang… Don’t know how I’ve missed you all this time.

Interesting about the Firefox file. I’m in the systems support biz and had not run into that one.

Are you now using WordPress 2? And what is the name of theme template? I’ve got to upgrade, but… time… time… time…

Y’all come around sometime, ya hear…

Hey there! Yup, my Word Press site welcomes me with the big howdy as well. And I thought it was because I live in Idaho.
