The cabin is on top of the bell-shaped curve that describes the profile of our property. Actually it is right at the point of the curve where it suddenly changes from being a gentle curve to being a plummeting curve.
The cabin is not built up very high off the ground and when I first saw it I thought water must surely wash in the front door in a heavy rain. It doesn’t though. For one reason the slope is enough even here that the water rushes off over the cliff. It forms little gullies along the paths that it chooses.
And a previous owner built these nice little stone-faced channels to make sure the gullies go just where you want them and don’t wander around. They also help keep erosion under control.
I need to take a cue from them and build another one like this near the well-house. One of those gullies I was talking about goes right in front of the well-house door and when there is a heavy rain water does come through the door a little. Not a whole lot but it has a dirt floor and after a rain it has a mud floor.

What a clever way to deal with the water. Sounds like you’ll be a busy guy.
As I sit here bright and early this morning, looking out the window at all the white stuff, I wonder what your temperatures are. I’m sure it’s very springlike there and I look forward to seeing more pictures of you garden this upcoming season.
Have a good one, Bill.
it is 62 F right at this moment.
It has been a warm winter. Earlier in the week we broke the record for the high. I think it was 92 F. We have a cool front moving in now and the temps are only going to reach a high in the lower 70’s I think.
And we are expecting snow tomorrow!!
Your cabin sounds like a great get-away place. You have not mentioned whether either of you have children, or grand children, but I would bet if you did have some the cabin would be a wonderful place to gather.
We had half of them there for Easter last year. It was great fun for all. We’re hoping to gather all this year. My 3 kids multiplied to 6 grandkids, but some are over 500 miles away.
