We’ve had balmy weather the last few days, and now tonight another cold front is moving in with freezing temperatures. Our plants won’t understand what’s happening. I have seen rose buds on the Ducher and Rouletti both this week. Last weekend’s light freeze did not set them back.
But the rosemary doesn’t mind freezes and it’s pretty blue flowers greet me each day on the path from the driveway to the front door.

What do you remember when you catch the scent?
I hope my rosemary blooms this year. Since it lives on an unheated porch all winter in our snowless zone five, it sometimes will bloom, but other years some condition I haven’t identified isn’t met and it just sits there.
I think my porch is a zone seven… there are a few weeks yet before it will even think about blooming.
Joel, Rosemary for rememberance. I think of poor Ophelia, torn between her head and her heart.
Memory wise - all my experience with Rosemary is recent. I’ve tended a few plants, coddling them through cold winters. I think the smell of rosemary means high summer to me, somehow. How resiny the plant smells when the temps are high. I love to brush a stem on my way out the door into the snow.
You do have a pretty Rosemary! mine just sits there.
Joel: SPAGHETTI!!!!
