feral

This is Tomasina, a feral cat who has been living in our back yard for about seven years. She was originally one of The Tommys, a pair of almost identical-looking cats who showed up at about the same time. We eventually determined that one was male and one female. After the male met an untimely end, Tomasina disappeared for several days, and was really nervous when she showed back up.

She has no interest in coming inside but rarely leaves our yard. She will not let anyone pick her up. None of our other cats seem threatened by her at all. In fact she can be something of a peacemaker. Sometimes one of our other cats will get in an altercation with an intruder and Tomasina will walk between them to break it up.

    Such a sweet face.

If she starts to allow herself to be picked up, take her to the vet.

    Sweet old girl.

I have what I call “porch critters”, a litter of kittens found their way into the neighborhood, and grew up feral, all long haired black cats, so I stick leftovers out for them and they eat it all, but they are hard to see, as they only come out at night.
