10 Years Ago:
I was up to my elbows in home improvement projects after buying an old house a year earlier. And I still haven’t finished them all either.

5 Years Ago:
I started my current job. They tried to dodge the Y2K bullet by commissioning a whole new system. About three weeks into the new century it was obvious that it was a complete bomb. I came on in a crash program to bring the old system up to speed.

1 Year Ago:
Dad passed away and we realized that Mother had Alzheimers.

Yesterday:
I was sick with a cold.

5 Snacks I Enjoy:
Corn chips with fiery hot salsa. Oranges. Chocolate. Nuts as long as they are not salted. Did I mention chocolate.

5 Songs I Know All the Words To:
I was tempted to list instrumentals or maybe songs with one word like “Tequila.” How about “I Fall to Pieces.” “Hickory Wind.” ” Sunshine Superman.” “Simple Twist of Fate.” “Pretty Boy Floyd.”

5 Things I’d Do with 100 Million Dollars:
Money doesn’t go as far as it used to. I would probably buy as big a spread as I could somewhere. Travel to every country in the world. Donate it all to the Nature Conservancy. Drive a yellow Rolls convertible. Maybe throw an extravagant party, one of those potlatch things where the Indians gave away all their wealth.

5 Places I’d Run Away To:
New Zealand. The French Riviera. Walden Pond. Middle Earth. A cool stream in the mountains.

5 Things I’d Never Wear:
I don’t know if there is anything I would absolutely refuse to wear. I wouldn’t want a tattoo or anything that would permanently damage my body but clothes are just costumes. Sometimes I just pretend I am a character in a movie anyway.

5 Favorite TV Shows:
Mostly I watch old movies. When the set is on, it is generally tuned to TCM. I like stories. Serials get tired after awhile. Old Seinfeld reruns are dependably funny though. King of the Hill. I Love Lucy. Briefly I got into West Wing. NYPD Blue was one of the few police shows I liked. Usually I don’t care for series that require you to watch the shows in a particular sequence. Too much like a soap opera.

5 Biggest Joys:
Tricia, my cats, just sitting on the dock of our lakeside cabin, gardening, reading a good book.

5 Favorite Toys:
The laptop. My digital camera. This weblog, of course. My new handy keychain light (you would be surprised how often it comes in handy). Woodworking tools (I can’t decide which one to pick).
