General Edwin Walker must be turning over in his grave. According to this study by the Bay Area Center for Voting Research, Dallas is the most liberal city in Texas and ranked 32nd in the nation, above Madison, Wisconsin.
People don’t usually say Dallas and liberal in the same breath. Part of the explanation may be the way they did the measuring. They were looking at just the city and not the county or the metro area. The city voted against the local boys in both of the last two presidential elections. The suburban vote went the other way of course. Most other Texas cities have incorporated the suburbs within their city limits to a greater extent than Dallas has. Still I have to think the authors of the study made some kind of math error when they claim Dallas to be 75% liberal.

I wonder if this has anything to do with my leaving Dallas in the 90’s?
I also see that as an Anglo I am now officially a minority in Texas. That’s good news, I’m hoping for preferential treatment in things like grants, aid and education.
Wow! I’ll have to check out the atmosphere when I come in October, Sir Bill.
Bill,
I saw that poll as well and wonder just what the researchers were smokin’…
Wallace - I’m with ya there, bud, but somehow I think we will be waiting a long time for our perks.
