new design

This redesign is still a little ragged but I decided to put it out there. In the next few days I hope to polish it up. Don’t be surprised if it looks a little different from day to day. If you see any kind of weirdness let me know. I use Firefox and I have also checked it out in the latest version of IE but beyond that I will have to depend on my readers to alert me to problems. I also haven’t figured out how to make the feeds work yet.

The old index file has been deleted. Any links to it should just come to this new one instead. The old archives are still in the same place in the unlikely event anyone has linked to them.

I put the blogroll on a separate page which you can get to from that bar under the masthead. Does that violate some kind of blogging convention?

Nope. Might confuse us for a while, tho.

The new colors are neat. Sepia suits.
I’d love to see that shot of you in the hat in a sepia tone - that ought to look just right.

That’s my default. Must look just fine then.

Jenn - Are you saying that the masthead font should be different? What would look better? A san-serif font, perhaps.

Well, now. Don’t let me unduly influence your design decisions. See. I would put something ‘fancy’ up there and thought that the ‘plain’ meant I didn’t have the font. But. You are a straightfoward, plainspeaking sort of individual, and the font might fit you and your intent perfectly.

I made mine ‘fancy’ by italicising… not being a terribly frilly person, myself. Doesn’t mean you have to change yours at’all.

*still feeling a bit of a cad for the unitentional crit*

And I really like the colortones. Tintypes and sepias, now. It’s really cool.

I really like this new design… something very serene and clean about it. I keep going back to the banner photo and gazing at the scene. Funny how another person’s perspective of a place they live in often completely overturns any preconceptions you might have. For some odd reason I’ve never associated Texas with water, though of course there is lots of it all around. Too many stereotypical movies, I guess.
