Wouldn’t it be fun to have a garden of rocks covered with moss and lichen. I wish I knew more about this form of life.
I have been reading Muck and Mire and my interest has been aroused. Now I am in the market for a book or field guide to tell me more.

I’ve had moss turn up in a couple places in our yard and was so excited. I guess the conditions were just right for it. I use it a lot in craft projects and thought it would be nice to have my own supply but I wouldn’t want to harvest it.
OH GOOD GRIEF!!! My roof has all the moss you would ever want!!! We use chemicals and bleach to KILL the moss around here!! (but you are right they are a cool little plant.)
moss/lichen just sit there beautifully, generating few comments. However, on this old house they build a old fashing farmers stone wall and the builder wasn’t happy until the stone that came had the right amount of lichen/moss on it. Your picture is very nice though.
