A common butterfly of our area, bedding down for the night on a sprig of rosemary. I hope it is safe from spiders.

The camera does not do it justice. The spots that appear white in the image are really a metallic silver.

Doesn’t do it justice? It’s beautiful! I can’t believe you took that. Wow.

Beautiful, beautiful picture……….Today I had 2 monarchs on the milkweed- the first ones I have seen in weeks……managed to get a couple of pictures. Our summer has been so cool until now plus I had a lot of damage in the garden from the hailstorms- I was afraid for the monarch migration…….some of the plants have recovered so hopefully if the warm weather continues I will see more monarchs. The sedum is just now beginning to blossom so hopefully the Painted Ladies will be arriving………..The zinnias suffered from the storms but I have seen one black swallowtail- hope she returns…….These butterflies have become a passion with me………

That’s a great butterfly shot. Amazing detail, perfect backdrop, and even the rosemary adds to the pic.
