spider web

Img_2041.jpg

While I was photographing the cenizo, Tricia found this spider web between the arm and the seat of our porch swing and asked for a picture of it. I was skeptical since I had never attempted a shot of a spider web before. I gave it a try though and it turned out better than I thought it would.

If you want to see some really great pictures of spider webs, go see Fred’s collection.

They really are beautiful, aren’t they? They remind me of a daintily crocheted doiley. Except they’re sticky. :)

Wow ! Fred does have some great shots. Most the time I do not appreciate Bill’s “no kill” policy on spiders, but ya got to admire thier artistry >^..^<

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is there an iridescent sheen to the web that make it look various pastel shades? They do diffuse light under some conditions, creating a prism effect, it’s true.

Nice. I like the iridescent sheen in the middle of the web.

Just a thought… you might want to try to spray some mist onto the web to bring out the strands. Or wait until dawn when the web is covered with dew… makes for some really nice pictures!
