redbuds

Tuesday I had to mow my lawn. We’ve been having so much rain lately that it was starting to look out of control.

Today it actually seemed warm. Redbuds are at the height of their glory all over town. We have roses too. I saw several blooms on the Rouletti this afternoon. The salvia greggii are just starting to open up. Irises and daffodils are blooming in gardens all down the street.

It’s affecting my mood. I feel more optimistic, cheerful, like starting new projects.

This is the color I usually see. Some people call it “purple” but most people I ask say that it is “pink” or “dark pink.” I can’t say that I have ever seen one that is the color I would call “red” which is the color of a stop sign.

My most favorite of the spring blossoming trees are the redbud. Thanks for giving this transplanted Texan a peak at what is still a few weeks away here in the colder midwest.

  5. I just managed to get my lawn (well, weeds) mown yesterday afternoon. All this rain has had a wonderful effect on the flowering trees (Texas mountain laurel and redbud are wonderful this year). But the overwintering annuals (bluebonnet, larkspur, nigella) seem a bit peckish. And the daffodils were all bitten by snails before they opened.

I’m not complaining about rain, mind you. Just amazed.

Actually, this blog is named after a real place. I don’t know how the quilting stitch got it’s name, probably named after my blog.
