bisextile day

Filed under: current events — 2/29/2004

As predicted we woke up to a morning of heavy rainfall. Listening to NPR in bed I learned a new word. Look it up.

Several weeks ago we bought advance tickets to the “Passion” movie for this afternoon. Someone from our church was organizing a group expedition there. At the time I hadn’t yet heard about the amount of violence in the movie. Now I am feeling a little squeamish. If I am able to sit through it I may offer up a few comments later.

You only heard it on the radio, but when I went to look it up, I discovered it was spelled bissextile. This might give it away, but did you know that someone born on bissextile day is a leapling? Check it out at Word Spy http://www.wordspy.com/ (It’s the featured word today, but you will have to do a search if you go to his site a different day.)

oops. I should have looked it up myself. And it was not in my spell-checker. It is pronounced the same way though

  3. Joel:

It’s also the day when single women can ask single men to marry them.

    Passionate about Passion

How often is it that you get to see people all around being passionate about a myth?
