I don't know what it is about hats; I have loved them since I was a boy. In high school I went through my huge brimmed, black Native American hat, complete with pheasant and jay feathers. In college I went though my Greek Fisherman's cap phase, followed by my fedora phase. Right after college I started to try to make my own hats out of canvas, always failing miserably with the crown diameter. Until I discovered the Afghan camel's wool cap, which I wore proudly on the streets of Boston, no doubt presenting the image that I was from the Mid-East, with my dark skin. Last April, here in Japan, I lost my favorite grey berber fleece and black wool cap, that reminded people of a Mongolian horseback rider. I'm looking for a new hat, one that will upgrade my image-in-flux.
